How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
Located in Toronto, Hanlan Boat Club has expanded significantly in the past five years from 150 to 250 members. The club's facilities, over 40 years old, can no longer adequately accommodate all of its equipment and users. With the current facility's age and limited capacity, the only option the club has is to build a new boathouse. The new boathouse will enable the club to have sufficient storage space to meet the operational needs, both currently and in the future as the club continues to grow. This initiative will represent the largest increase in rowing capacity in Toronto, in decades. A better facility, in Canada's largest city, will provide greater opportunity for more people to try rowing, train here at a high performance level, and to attract corporate support and public profile. All of these factors will benefit rowing at a national level.
