Replenish Capital Reserve Fund - Prescott Curling Club
Project Description
The goal of this project is to help replenish our Capital Reserve Fund. We missed making our annual contributions during the shutdown and reduced membership levels caused by Covid-19. This project will catch up the missed years. The funds will be applied to upgrade our ice making and maintenance equipment and to provide continuous improvements to the building infrastructure. These upgrades and renovations are essential to sustain our ability to provide curling to participants of all ages in the Town of Prescott and surrounding communities.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
The funds will be applied to any one from a list of identified projects that will be required over the coming years. Examples are replacement of icehouse de-humidifier, compressor rebuild, cooling tower rebuild, brine pump replacement and electrical and control upgrades in the compressor room and renewal of V-mesh houses. Identified facility work includes replacement of clubhouse and kitchen flooring, insulation/siding on east wall of icehouse, refinish indoor south wall of icehouse and replacement of bar cooler. The Board has identified these specific projects to be tackled over the next decade and will determine priority as conditions may dictate.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
This project is important to sustain our facilities long term so that we can continue to offer curling to participants of all ages in our region. The Prescott Curling Club is a community hub for local seniors to remain physically active and gather socially. Our region has experienced an influx of new residents. Our Adult Learn to Curl programs have sold out the last 2 years and has been successful at cultivating new members to our sport. Our Youth program has been growing and our certified Coach volunteers are actively developing the next generation of curlers. We have at least 3 high schools booking practice times at our facility. The Prescott Curling Club hosted LGSSAA (Leeds-Grenville Secondary School) playdowns in 2024 and we will host again in 2025.
