Project Description
The Head of the Rideau Regatta is an annual head race event hosted by the Ottawa Rowing Club on the Rideau River. We invite over 700 athletes from rowing clubs in the Eastern Ontario Region, volunteers and spectators to participate and enjoy the sport of Rowing.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
The Head Of The Rideau Regatta is a multi-day event that requires over 80 volunteers and months of planning & preparation. The ORC also incurs over $15,000 in expenses to host this event.several such as: venue rental, first aid, portapotties, security costs, volunteer lunches. awards & more. Overall, a big event like the HOTR that has been happening for 50 years incurs significant expense to the ORC and any financial assistance that is provided is helpful.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
HOTR is an event that is open to rowers from clubs all over the globe through Regatta Central. It is held in late September of every year in the Nation's Capital - a beautiful time of the year. The time and location will bring visibility to our sport and attract new participants. Whether the athletes are coming back from the Olympics to support a local event or a student that has just joined their school's team, the event offers an exciting opportunity for athletes of all ages and abilities to compete and improve their skills in the sport of rowing. 2024 will be the first year our Special Olympics Crews will be racing!
