306 - Port Arthur Curling Centre

PACC Capital Improvement Fund

Project Description

As a not-for-profit organization, Port Arthur Curling Centre relies on external funding sources to augment programs for curling participants of all ages and to supplement operational challenges that may arise unexpectedly. As a member of Ontario Curling Council, our provincial sport body, we are privileged to apply to the National Sport Trust Fund to assist us with our fundraising efforts. Port Arthur Curling Centre (PACC) is undergoing a rebranding that encompasses a vision of equity, diversity and inclusiveness. PACC was established in 1887 and has a long and storied history. The facility is a main stay in the community, and we hope to continue its legacy by upgrading and renovating the building and property to guarantee its future for future generations. Changing times, and various cultures within our community expect the centre to have more than curling as its single focus. With upgrades and renovations, we can realize our vision and establish the centre as a welcoming place for community members to participate in the sport of curling to compete in the sport of curling and to enjoy social pursuits, such as dining in the restaurant, holding events such as cultural celebrations, shags, showers, wedding receptions, children's parties, etc.

or developing amateur sport on a national
level.

The election of the first female president in the history of Port Arthur Curling centre directly aligns with its commitment to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. Equity, diversity and inclusion are the top priorities, and the election of a female president denotes a significant stride towards gender equality, as well as serving as an inspiration for young curlers, particularly female and gender diverse individuals to pursue leadership positions in the sport. With upgrades and renovations to the facility, Port Arthur Curling Centre will be able to offer a variety of programs in an inclusive venue that will encourage participation from the community as well as providing learning opportunities for curlers who wish to compete on the Provincial and National stage.
