Boat Purchase
Project Description
The Ottawa River Canoe Club was established in 2002 with a focus on the development of sprint canoeing and kayaking, dragon boating, and outrigger paddling. ORCC youth and adult programs span recreational, pre-competitive and competitive sprint paddling. ORCC athletes compete and succeed at the divisional, provincial, national and international levels of competition. In order to compete at all levels the club requires more boats for all our athletes. The aim of this project is to raise sufficient funds to add more suitable youth boats to our fleet to meet the needs of our growing athlete population.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
The proceeds of this fundraising will be used to purchase a new 2 person racing canoe.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
The boat that we are looking to purchase is one of the main boats used at our National Championship. The size of boat we are looking to purchase is for female athletes who require a slightly smaller boat. We are looking to encourage more female athletes to continue in our sport at the competitive level and compete at the National Championships. To do so, this boat is a key piece of equipment.
