Nyron Higgins Coach Development Fund
Project Description
The Nyron Higgins Coach Development Fund will be used to support the professional development and education of Athletics coaches in Ontario.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
An annual bursary towards coach education development.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
Athletics is one of, if not the, most popular, diverse, and inclusive sports in Ontario. It includes a wide range of events, providing participation possibilities for people with different skills, strengths and interests. This popularity and wide range of events requires the need for a large number of qualified coaches to support the athletes. The Nyron Higgins Coach Development Fund will allow recipient coaches to enhance their knowledge and skills. The upgraded skills and knowledge will help coaches ensure that Ontario athletes - who currently represent over 50% of the members on Team Canada Athletics - continue their strong representation at the national level.
