Stop the Drips- Fix the Roof!!!
Project Description
The steel roof covering the ice shed has been leaking water through the beautiful wood cathedral ceiling and dripping onto the ice surface for a number of years. This has forced the ice crew to drape plastic sheets above the ice surfaces to ensure to that the ice is safe to play on and prevent the build up of ice bumps. We cannot continue to carry on in this manner. There is concern that there may be unseen damage (rotting/mold) between the ceiling and the roof. We have tried a few things to fix the drips (pulled up a few panels to check for the condition of insulation; replaced all the screws; sealed off openings,etc) but the drips continue. We need to raise funds to solve the roof issue and STOP THE DRIPS!
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
To address and repair the leaks in the roof - to possibly hire a professional to identify why/where the roof is leaking and make recommendations as to how to repair/replace the metal roof.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
Our roof repair will enhance our ice shed appearance. We regularly host large events which promotes curling and our city. We have a lot of interest in our sport through our many programs - Learn to Curl; Youth program; wheelchair curling - but if the roof is not repaired in the very near future we risk our programs as the ice surface will become unplayable - clear plastic sheets will not suffice as the drips are becoming more regular and intense. We develop our youth to qualify for provincial and national competitors We have Sr Men's Teams who complete at the provincial level. We recently hosted the OUA Men's championships with Trent University - the winners will be competing at the national level in March. We also have a Ladies U18 competetitive team who recently competed in Provincial Champiionship and represented the club at the Ontario Winter games
