The Kingston Rowing Club
Project Description
Promoting and developing rowing at all levels in Kingston and the surrounding area, while focusing on excellence in recreation, competition, coaching, and fostering community involvement in the sport is our mission. To do this successfully requires support for our athletes, programs, equipment, and facility. Donations enhance our ability to foster excellence and inclusivity. We strive to support any athlete who requires financial assistance to participate in rowing; provide innovative programming; have a fleet of boats suiting athletes at all developmental and competitive levels. Capital funds are also required to upgrade our club house and take care of our docks.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
Athlete support; program and coach development; equipment purchases (shells, oars, coach boats, safety equipment, etc.); regular operations; capital upgrades to the existing boathouse and capital expansion of a new adjacent boathouse.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
Kingston Rowing Club takes pride in working with junior and novice athletes through strong club programs, long-term relationships with middle and high schools, as well as Queen's University. Many of our armature athletes go on to compete at national level, including but not limited to U23, Senior National Team and Olympic Team. Our coaches are regularly recruited to lead special national/world teams (CANAMEX, University Worlds, etc.), often hosting these athletes in Kingston and training at our club. Supporting more of these athletes as well as increased coach development will be possible with further financial support.
