Row Ontario IDEA Fund
Project Description
Row Ontario is partnering with the Canadian Sport Film Festival on the Canadian premier of the documentary A MOST BEAUTIFUL THING.
The film, which is based on the memoir by Arshay Cooper, is an inspiring and uplifting documentary about Cooper and his teammates from Manley Career Academy High School on Chicago's West Side, who formed the first African American High School rowing team in the United States. This powerful story chronicles the barriers team members broke to be able to participate in rowing and the resulting impact on their lives and legacies.
Proceeds of tickets will be used to start Row Ontario's new Inclusive, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (I.D.E.A) Fund.
In conjunction to the above event, Row Ontario is looking to launch a campaign to seek donations from the rowing and sport community to grow the Row Ontario IDEA Fund.
At the moment there is no specific end date for this project or a specific funding target as the goal is for this project to be ongoing. For the purposes of this application, I have put a two year timeline on it.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
The money from the Row Ontario IDEA Fund will be used to fund grants that will be awarded to community rowing club programs (through application) that support improving diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility of the sport of rowing. Grant money could be used to support a new community outreach program, to provide sponsor under privileged participants etc.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
The funds raised from this program, will enable Row Ontario & our Member Clubs the ability to expand the reach of our sport to communities and parts of the Ontario population otherwise not served at the moment.
