Play to Podium Fund
Project Description
ParaSport Ontario is in the process of purchasing adaptive equipment totalling $35,500 for use in our Play to Podium Fund to enable individuals with disabilities to easily access adaptive equipment so that they can participate in the parasport(s) of their choice. These individuals would not otherwise be able to participate in any parasports without ParaSport Ontario's assistance because the cost of the adaptive equipment is so expensive that they would not be able to afford it. The money donated to ParaSport Ontario for this program will go towards the purchase of this adaptive equipment.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
To purchase adaptive equipment for the use of individuals with disabilities in ParaSport Ontario's Play to Podium Fund and to insure that individuals with a disability can participate in the parasport(s) of their choice.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
By being introduced to parasports through ParaSport Ontario's Play to Podium Fund program, a large number of individuals with disabilities have gone on to participate in Provincial; National; Para PanAm Games; Commonwealth Games; Paralympic Games, etc., and have excelled at these Games bringing so much pride and medals back to the Province. At the recent Invictus Games held in Toronto, ParaSport Ontario was approached to loan a handcycle so an injured veteran could participate in those Games.
